1/144 RB-79 Ball Review

Original series plastic kit by Bandai
1/144 RB-79 Ball together with 1/220 Ball (kinda like father and son ne? :P)

1/144 0079 Ball with 08th MS team Ball Kai, compare and see the difference.

0079 Ball and MSiA Ball comparison, almost an identical downscale, only difference is that the MSiA Ball has more panel lines.

Review by: Arvin Lim

I got curious and fascinated with the pics of the 1/144 0079 ball on the net that's why I ordered one so i can pair it together with my 08th Ms team LM ball (which is quite good and rare), it comes with a bonus 1/250 ball(ling), which to my surprise is also very nicely detailed! (Now together with the 08th MS Team's Ball Kai I can pose them as Family!*bleh*:P)

for a kit made in 1981 the ball is quite decent even with todays standards, it's even more advanced than the 08th Ms' ball since it's manipulator claws have a lot of articulation, it even has opening and closing claws wow!

it's gimmicks include the 120mm cannon which pivots and swivels, a mini ball (1/250) with again good articulation, a display stand and of course the very articulate manipulator claws which is really modernized considering the era that it was designed from.

I can say that the MSiA ball was directly downscaled from this kit and with a little decoration of decals, a little painting and a little filling up of panel lines, the 0079 ball can go neck to neck with modern standard kits, i'm glad i got it!^_^

The only gripe I have bout it is that it lacks the detail and panel line that the MSiA ball has, not to mention the strangely shaped sphere that is the ball's body, but for the mere price of 300 yen, and you get a real gem of a kit, who's complaining?
