1/100 MG MS-06F Zaku II

Photos and Model by: Arvin Lim

This is the other kit I used in my Diorama "First Kill", it is actually the coated version of the MS-06S Char's Zaku which I stripped off and repainted.

There isn't really much modification in this kit, except the monoeye which was replaced with a LED, so it can be seen better than the clear monoeye that was supplied with the kit, and the hole that I created on the chest armore and on the back pack to simulate the hole made when it was impled with a beam saber. It's funny that I painted the regular grunt zaku in different colors as seen in my High Mobility Protoype Zaku and painted Char's Zaku in grunt colors. I found it really awkward to use the normal colors due to the situation I've selected for my diorama, so I decided to give it the grunt zaku's color instead of it's normal "red comet" color.

I stripped off the coating with 90% ethyl alcohol, and succeeded in removing the metallic red tint, leaving only the silver tint on the kit. I then used Mr. Color Russian Green for the torso, Israeli Green for the limbs and head, and flat black for the other trimmings.

As a final touch, weathering was done with black chalk pastel for a little shading, and by using the edge of my modelling knife, I scraped off some of the paint form the edges of the arms, legs and torso to simulate some wear and tear on the suit (that's why I didn't strip the paint off from the suit entirely and left some of the silver coating on :P). Finally I attached decals that came from different MG kits to enhance the overall look and tipped it off with a coat of Mr.Super Clear Flat to even out the paint on the suit.
