1/60 Shinohara ARL-99B HelldiverThis is the ARL-99B Helldiver airborne troops labor seen in the patlabor movie. I personally haven't seen the movie so I never really seen the helldiver in action. Although I haven't been able to see the patlabor movie, something in the looks of the helldiver really appeals to me. It's probably in the helldiver's militaristic look and over all cool factor that made me get it. I never actually modified anything when I built this kit as everything was designed properly(IMO). What I did was drill an extra hole on the left forearm so that the machine gun can also be mounted on that side of the arm. Then I scrounged up extra hands from the old 1/144 Gazu R/L kit so I could pose him holding an extra gun besides the machine gun that he came with. The Diorama that I used is a pre casted 1/35 military diorama base made of plaster of paris that I got from the nearby hoby shop, I then got some 1/72 military figs and vehicles to enhance the over all look of the diorama. As soon as I got this kit, I already planned to dress him up in a military camouflage scheme which IMO, suits him really well. As usual, I handbrushed the whole thing with Gunze Sangyo's Mr. Color paints. The colors I used were Russian Green for the base color, then I used Huill red, Flat Black, and Isreali green for the camouflage pattern. I used sand brown for the rubber coverings, and used Gunmetal, Silver, and Gold for the internals. Finally I topped it off by sparaying Mr. Super clear flat, to even out the colors. |
