Ranba Ral's Zugock EThis is the old 0080 Zugock E that I specially prepared for Mechapinoy's"Scourge of the Seven Seas" In-house contest. I have both this and the HGUC version of the Zugock E, but since the HGUC wasn't even built yet and I was planning on trying out a few new things, I decided to use the old Zugock E. At first I didn't know whether to just do a plain build or a customized one, but after much consideration I decided to make my zugock into a customized version for Ranba Ral's use no less. I started by out by drilling holes on the Zugock E's head where raised details used to be. I then cut out some sprues and rounded the top parts using a soldering iron and fit them on the holes that I made to make some sort of torpedo array similar to the ones found on regular zugocks. Next thing I did was mobilizing the monoeye. For this I used a 5mm LED and some plastic pipes. I fitted a pole along the lenght of the zugocks torso to hold up the plastic pipes fitted with the 5 mm lead to enable repositioning of the monoeye. Then I modified the shoulder armor. Originally they were attched to the shoulders which gave it an unatural appearance when it was posed. To remedy this i removed the connectors that connect the shoulder armor to the shoulders, and I attached some plastic cards inside the sholder armor so it can be fitted on separately. I positioned the shoulder armor at about 2mm higher than the original to improve the over all look of the kit. Of course any Ranba Ral MS would be incomplete without extra weapons, so i fitted it with extra torpedo launchers on it's back boosters. I cut off the spherical tips from the boosters and replaced them with the tips of the missile launchers that came with the guncannon. Originally I wanted to construct an attachment similar to the Gouf's finger cannons, but since i thought of it a bit late I just decided to remove the Mega Particle Cannon from left hand and replaced them with four tube like attachments to serve as multi barrelled Mega particle cannons. Final addition would be the coil like extension similar to the Gouf's heat rod, but this time it is not the rod itself that heats up. Instead i visualized it to be some sort of extension cable which Ranba Ral uses to propel the right arm of the Zugock E and act both as a heat claw and a wire guided Mega Particle Cannon similar to the one's used in earlier Psycommu system enhanced MS. I made this using some 4mm rubber tube fitted over 2 0.8mm solid copper wires brayed together. the rubber tube was then cut into 4mm long sections after it was ritted over the copper wires, so it will appear similar to the conduction cable assemblies found on the MG Goufs and Zakus. As for any of Ranba's MS the main color scheme would be blue, but then again a plain blue suit nowadays is nothing special so I played a bit with the colors and made polygonal patterns to serve as a camo scheme instead. I first coated the parts with Sky blue, then cut out random patterns from my masking tape and attched it randomly on the parts before coting it with Character Blue. I then used Steel for the midsection, backpack, upper arms, thighs and feet. Character red for the highlights and silver for the claws.
